FACTORY RESET ELUX TERMINAL

HOW TO RESET A THIN CLIENT TO FACTORY SETTINGS

There are two ways to reset a terminal running eLux.

1)  From Scout you can right click at a terminal at chose “remote factory reset”

This will make the terminal erase all configuration files and settings, but STILL REMEMBER the Scout server. After erasing all files the terminal will automatically reboot and contact the scout server with the correct group id, and reconfigure itself.

2) At the terminal you can go to the “setup”  -> “firmware” -> “reset” -> “reset and reboot”

If the terminal “starter” is not visible because of wrong screen resolution, you will have to reset the terminal at booting procedure, the procedure differs between eLux NG and eLux RL.

  • NG: when terminal boot press the TAB key just when the eLux logo appears on the screen, when the terminal ask for the password, enter the password that you have set or the default password if you never changed it from installation. After entering the password you can chose to factory reset the terminal
  • RL: When terminal boot keep on pressing the “ESC” key until you get the boot menu. Here you can also choose factory reset and you also have to supply the password here

If you do not know the password there is only one option left…. system recovery…. don’t worry it is not that difficult 🙂

ps: if the starter/configuration is “greyed out”, you need to press CTRL-ALT-HOME and enter the password to reset the terminal locally.
